Organisation Analysis

Alchymy provides a comprehensive ability to undertake organisational analysis, leading to a clear articulation of the current structure and capability, and its fit with the current required or future strategic organisation.

We do this through an iterative and multi-layered process, involving engagement at all levels within the organisation and with a broad range of stakeholders, as well the use of focus groups, interviews, online surveys and facilitated workshops. A key feature of our analysis usually involves reviewing and validating our findings during a mid-term review, and using this as a spring board to improving recommendations arising from the analysis.

In addition, we encourage clients to ensure that all participants are provided an opportunity to receive feedback on the analysis - therefore valuing their inputs from the start, and demonstrating the commitment of the organisation through sharing findings with stakeholders.

Case Study:

Alchymy was challenged with completing a comprehensive organisational analysis on behalf of the Alzheimer Society of Ireland. This project was aimed at enabling the Society to meet the increasing needs of people living with dementia in Ireland.

Our approach was to work closely with a steering committee to understand the requirements, to robustly analyse the context of those requirements, and to work with the organisation and its stakeholders to complete our analysis.

Alchymy applied 4 different mechanisms in an initial round of consultation, including individual meetings, workshops, graphical methaphors and a comprehensive confidential survey. This allowed us to agree deeper analysis targets with the steering committee for a second round of investigation.

Conducted over a 4 month period, in total this project generated 618 different inputs, and allowed Alchymy to prepare a comprehensive set of 70 recommendations for the Society. We found all of those involved to be highly motivated and dedicated to the cause of providing services and support to those living with dementia, and their families.

Our conclusions - presented in a report entitled “More” reflect our belief in the strong sense of purpose and commitment of the Society's staff and volunteers - and outlines the opportunity for the Society to build on its existing services and supports to meet the needs of the growing number of people living with dementia in Ireland.
